Don’t Be Afraid to Fail
Pramod Batra
Let me Share with you
another wonderful idea. America’s master motivator, Zig Ziglar, says
that failure is an event, not a person. No man is ever a failure,
Provided he has an attitude which compels him to view a failure as a
lost opportunity in that particular event. Failure is an accident. And
no more
So whenever I get fired, it does hurt for a while, but like the
irrepressible “hit-me” toy, ullu ka pattha, I bounce back and start
all over again. If you want to have a positive attitude, keep this toy
on your desk, in your office, or at home, even in your bedroom. I do
Tomorrow is always another day. Remember the last scene from Gone with
the wind.
Think about it. You’ve failed many times, although you may not
remember. You fell down the first time you tried to walk. You almost
drowned the first time you tried to swim, didn’t you? Did you hit the
ball the first time you swung a bat? Heavy hitters, the ones who hit
the most home runs, also strike out a lot.
Fear of failure is an attitude problem. Consider this message
published, in the Wall street Journal by United Technologies
Corporation: don’t worry about failure.. Worry about the chances you
miss when you don’t even try. All of us postpone things. We
procrastinate. We rationalize. We make excuses. We foolishly believe
that to be creative and to have a positive attitude and to simply do
things, we have to have all kinds of preconditions.
R.H. Macy failed seven times before his store in New York caught on.
English novelist John Creasey got 753 rejection slips before he
published 564 times, but he also hit 741 home runs.
Abraham Lincoln did not fear failure. This giant among American
presidents lost several elections before reaching the White House.
Lincoln had the following to say after losing a senate race:
The path was worn and slippery. My foot slipped from under me,
knocking the other out of the way, but I recovered and said to myself,
‘It’s a slip and not a fall’.
Or, as someone wisely said, “Failure? I never encountered it. All I
ever met were temporary setbacks”.
Years ago I read that success needs no explanation and failure has
none. Again, it’s a matter of attitude.
Buddy, don’t wait for your ship to come in - swim to it! Change. today
it has become a buzzword. Many of us shout from the rooftops to change
everyone else but ourselves! Do a self - audit.
