The seduction of the shortcut can never be resisted by the Indian Jobseeker. If the volume of Companies and Placement Firms are multiplying at an unprecedented rate, some solution has to be found to beat the odds at the volume game. But have we given our latest job hunting methodology the analysis it deserves?

This is the era of ‘The Lists’. The job seeking funda is about getting lists – and sending emails - on our own or through someone else. Such services are beginning to become a lucrative business, particularly for the job-websites, but the merits and demerits of such services are not under debate here. What is worrisome is the fact, that, the jobseeker is deriving great comfort from the comfort - Comfort which is leading to complacency.

Let us not forget that reaching is only a step. Sending a resume is like a prayer – it does not guarantee a response. More has to be done. Neither does sending a resume to its destination necessarily mean that has it arrived.

The major problem that the jobseeker faces today is the fact that everyone gets so many emails everyday that, in many cases, lots remain unread. Even placement firms say that it can get tedious to go through such volume. Resumes that are filed for later reference usually get forgotten. With so much easy access to new resumes everyday, it does not make sense to store a resume which has probably journeyed everywhere else also.

The shelf life of a resume has become even shorter, what with everyone offering to send you e -lists – of jobseekers!

All this is not helping the jobseekers very much. They are simply getting lost in this electronic mela.

We are heading towards new job - market trends.

The nuances of the jobmarket change like the weather. So the job hunting methodology we are using today has to be modified.
